I used to think that, too, then someone handed me a Waterloo. They have enough natural flavor that it isn't just a hint, but it isn't overwhelming either. They nailed it perfectly. I don't like all the flavors, some are awful. I love the Peach, Strawberry, and the Ruby Rec Tangerine the best. I've recently discovered that the Lemon Lime and Blackberry Lemonade are also delicious. Zero calories,...

Their blackberry one is my go-to mixer. That, a small splash of lemonade, and some vodka is delicious

I guess I meant more like a Brita filter. Or, my fridge has one built in. I never have to buy bottled water and it tastes great.

Yeah that doesn't work where I currently live. Even the previous area, which was maybe 20 minutes away. I had a water filter just for my fridge in tandem with the fridge filter. White spots from the drops formed on the drip tray. And long story short, I spent a week in the hospital getting my kidneys cleaned out; not really sure how to describe it fluid being pumped through an IV.

What tequila are you drinking? Do you mean mezcal?

I've tried... 3 or 4? All were from people I know who I told "Well, I didn't like X brand, but if there's a substantially different one I'll try it again" and it hasn't ended with a tequila I like xD I just think tequila isn't for me

This is a personal question, different people have different taste. And it changes over time too. I can't like anything that is tooth-shattering sweet but can appreciate bitter flavor now.

My answer to this is always a Negroni. I cannot apprehend it, and I like cocktails. The Negroni is a cup of bitter sugar syrup and I cannot taste whatever it is that people like in it. It's like someone drank Campari and said "not sweet enough" what the heck?

Tequila, scotch, bourbon, all those I drink "lengthened" with some soda water to appreciate them and can taste the delicious flavors once they are diluted. Gin is good with tonic & lime. But the very strong, oversweet stirred drinks I don't enjoy and Negroni is the most beloved of them.

Saw several coffees mentioned and that got me wondering. I have had good cafe coffee once in my life. Most of the cafes make sugar nonsense. When I order black coffee, it's a coin flip between burnt bitter mess and fucking battery acid. Now what are the chances that many people haven't had a decent cup of black coffee?

There's a percentage of the population that are super tasters and they are often known because they really dislike how bitter coffee is

That will be IPAs for me. If I wanted to drink grapefruit pith I can think of better ways to do it.

I agree. When they first became popular they were fine, but after the how much hops can we pack in arms race started they became kind of nasty...

Part of what they're saying is tequilas aren't smokey. A good tequila is made with steamed blue agave. Mezcal is often made with roasted agave that gives it a smokey flavor, although this isn't a requirement for it. Tequila is technically a mezcal (not all mezcal is tequila), with a more specific definition that should usually mean it's pretty much never smokey.

A lot of fancy stuff would not appeal to the average persons pallate. Its kinda like beer and coffee which I think some people like but many get used to. Anyway for the bulls 3rd victory my sister got dom perignon or whatever. everyone hated it but its dry which I guess is the fancy pallet appeal. although fancy pallet to me are folks that convince themselves they like it because they think it makes them better. the refined pallet.

Carbonated flavored water. I do not understand how people can drink something that’s only claim to flavoring is that it at some point sat near a fruit of some kind.

I love them. I think people compare them to soda and feel let down. The trick is to compare them to water. To me they’re like a water upgrade. Some flavor variety and when you’re thirsty I love how the carbonation doesn’t just quench your thirst, it ATTACKS it! Like you feel some mild pain if you drink too much too fast - which is a feature, not a bug!

I've always hated diet sodas but the new Coke Zero Sugar is pretty close to good. Zero alone wasn't quite there, I used to mix it with the full sugar Coke, but they tweaked it and shifted to Zero Sugar, and got really close. It doesn't have any aftertaste at all, it's just not quite as sweet tasting, which is good. I've tried the Zero Sugar versions of a few other drinks, and they were acceptab...

I swapped to coke zero years ago, the old formula was better imo, but new is still my favorite available

THe trick is to be 10 and your family allows you a little pony beer (old 8 oz glass bottle) 1-2 times per year. It takes away the mystery and when I was older, I didn't feel a need to go get alcohol behind anyone's back. And when I was 21, I drank occasionally, like with pizza sometimes or spaghetti, or a mixed drink socially or something. Of course, for those that are alcoholics or otherwise g...

Of course, for those that are alcoholics or otherwise get addicted to the alcoholic effects, it can be a struggle, but not really probably relating to when you start drinking in such cases.

There's actually a well known, clear link between drinking debut age (first drink) and rates of alcoholism, as well as other adverse effects (something about employment I think, and drug use for sure).

If I recall correctly the age of debut is statistically even more impactful than the age one starts drinking regularly, when it comes to rates of alcohol dependency.

A lot of other things factor in as well, and a lot of things factor in to push an early debut of course... but drinking debut age is definitely a factor in alcoholism.

Merica Whiskey is the brand. Sorry, just didn't remember that they dropped the A. Drink at your own peril. It makes Malort taste smooth.

Oh dear god, a bourbon whose name is a played-out meme? I thought you just meant whiskey from America in general. This shit looks like another cash grab aimed at Trump supporters. It's only aged 6 months. 🤮

It is possible that you just haven’t had one you liked yet. The are a lot of different flavors and styles. I like some but not others. Then again, why bother since drinking isn’t really all that great for you anyway. 😄

For me, anything with hops in tastes awful.

I suspect lager/beer/IPA/RealAle etc.

I love almost all of it now, but as a teen first trying it it was disgusting and I had to pretend to like it because thats what Real Men drink. I can't be sure if its an acquired taste, or something that only comes with age, or my main suspicion is that its like Stockholm Syndrome for your tongue.

A lot of answers here are things that are acquired tastes. Most alcoholic beverages for example: once you get used to them you start to appreciate the interesting alcohol-soluble flavors that you can't get anywhere else. Learning to like bitter flavors opens up things like coffee (though the caffeine addiction probably helps too).

The one drink that I cannot understand is cola. I remember in the 90's seeing all the ads about Pepsi vs Coke. Restaurants and grocery stores and households picked a side. You'd occasionally encounter the weirdo or centrist who liked both, the juggalo with Faygo cola, or elitist with Jones soda, or the weirdo with a generic or another minor brand. All of them are terrible. I like a bunch of weird and strong flavors. Umami, salty, herbal, floral, sweet, acidic, whatever. I have a bag of Horehound hard candies on my desk that everyone else hates. I like to make my own mint soda by adding mint syrup to club soda. I cannot understand how cola ever became popular.

Tequila Ocho Blanco, the clear one. Is amazing.

I do like smokey flavors in drinks but the tequilas blancas are not smokey, they have a vaguely vegetal flavor. Also for any tequila : Try with some agave & lime & water or soda water, make a tequila-ade and see if you like it better as an ingredient. I don't love it straight, too strong but love love love it in a cocktail.

NA (non alcoholic) beer.

I enjoy beer, even the macro-brewery styles. Every NA beer I've tried is the dishwater tasting worst example of beer. I don't get it. There are so many better NA options.

You mentioned so many different styles of beer lol. None of which are even remotely alike. And then just “beer”.

Beer is just as nuanced as wine. So many different styles and tastes within styles.

Even just in the IPA umbrella you have a thousand different styles, that range from the ultra hoppy and bitter west coast style to a sweeter version in the northeastern hazy IPA range.
