I was leveling alts through legion, then bfa recently and it was really fun, the stories were interesting, the zones were huge and interesting, and it felt so "world of warcraft" (and i didn't even play old wow, i started in tww, so its not nostalgia).

Bfa and legion feels so big and epic. Tww and midnight feels small and, simplified, like the story is just in the background, focus is completely on gameplay, leveling through campaign is a complete snooze fest. Themes are not interesting to me and dialogues feel so simple and forced.

It just makes me sad. Sure I do hear game systems are much better than they were in bfa. But as a casual player going full on game systems and butchering the story, world aspect of the game is unattractive to me.

And cinematics too, both full cgi cinematics on yt and in-game rendered ones are just so much impactful and not boring. I mean i look at alleria's weird punch at xalatath cinematic or many other ones i cant remember that are just emotional suspense for the most of it with nothing happening. Then I look at falling to nazjatar cinematic (and the crazy visuals of the zone in-game) or the cinematics for first couple zandalari quests for horde. The difference is just so big. Dialogues, characters, i feel the same way about all of it. It's almost like a completely different game made by completely different company. It feels like both the creativity is downgraded, and the budget is downgraded, like it feels cheaper.

And then cgi cinematics went from, like by far best in the industry to the sunwell cinematic with weird wax people with odd fighting animations, and in terms of story of the cinematic there's just nothing interesting happening (to me), old cinematics would make me hold my breath and feel like i just watched a short movie, if that makes sense.

From tww to midnight, only thing that made me say "wow, i'm having a great time even just existing here" was hollowfall zone, credit where due it was amazing.
