And even if all the planned ones are actually built, that would still be less than what is being built in solar power every year.

I know, it's awesome right? Solar and nuclear replace fossil fuels at breakneck speed in smarter countries with better planning. It fucking sucks that most of Europe is relying on outdated and polluting gas and coal to supplement their solar and wind, but alas.

Nuclear has never been economical and never will be. Any investment in nuclear is money thrown out of the window

This is such an incredibly weird take, and it really saddens me that you, as a renable fuel proponent, are falling for fossil fuel propaganda.

It's very clearly a good idea for the entire nation of china, because they're doing it right now and accelerating it.

The economic viability of a power generation method depends hugely on what is and isn't priced in. For nuclear, every single downside is priced in several times over, where fossil fuels have their downsides spread freely around the world at zero cost. For solar and wind, the downsides are ignored because there are alternatives that will provide power during winter.

That's what makes solar and nuclear such a great combo. We're already forced to keep using fossil fuels for SO many industrial processes, every bit saved counts.
