I’m COMPLETELY BLIND, have Aspergers and a heart lung condition.

Does anyone else on the spectrum, still use what I call pre-verbals?

I’m verbal in the fact I can use and understand words, but I’m also pre-verbal I use communication styles like vocalizations that a lot of people don’t use.

For example, when I want to see where Mom is in a room, or when I want affection or reassurance, I ask her “innn?” or “mmm?”

When I’m relaxed or content, I do a high-pitched, almost whiny, nasal sigh “hmmmmmmm!”

When I want to be loved on, I cry like a puppy.

When I agree with the stimulus I received, like maybe I like the taste of something, the feel of a touch or someone said a favorite word of mine, I do a very long, low-pitched moan “mmmmmmmmmm!”

The reason I call these pre-verbals is that upon doing research on these vocalizations I’ve seen that these come from infancy and are one of our first communications we have before learning to use words.

Although words are more direct,I feel like those pre-verbals are more pure because we can white-lie with our words a lot but you really can’t lie with your pre-verbals as easily, for example I lied to Granny as a child when I said I liked sweet ham, but I didn’t fake a sigh or moan at it.
