my experience playing minesweeper mostly goes like: solving, solving, solving... ok so these three corners all have a 50/50 chance, the only thing I can do is click randomly while acknowledging there's an 87.5% chance I lose for no real reason

Never did I ever think I would read a comment thread about edging a game of Minesweeper.

There are plenty of versions that only generate no RNG fields

Yep, every time minesweeper comes up I link this version.

Open source, made by the PuTTY dev, and deterministic. No RNG outside of the map seed.
