This guy at work has been talking about getting into PC gaming for months, i told him ill help him pick parts, we can build something decent together.

he never took me up on it and last week shows up saying he bought a PC from MediaMarkt. cool right? until he shows me the receipt.

€1,400. i5 12th gen, 16gb RAM and an RX 580 8gb. in 2026. i just stared at him for like 10 seconds.

he goes "the guy in the store said the graphics card is really powerful" bro the RX 580 came out in 2017. i tried explaining it to him and he got defensive, started saying stuff like "well it runs games doesnt it"

the worst part is he paid for it already and its past the return window. theres nothing i can do. meanwhile my current rig just died last month and im stuck gaming on my phone until i can sort something out, and this guy just threw €1,400 at an RX 580. i wanted to cry a little.

please if anyone you know is buying a PC, just 10 minutes of research. thats all it takes. these stores prey on people who dont know any better and its actually criminalT
