Hi, I'm confused as to what I'm feeling and why I'm feeling it, I think it's related to my autism. Basically my boyfriend of a little more than one year has shaved his beard and mustache, I've seen him once without a beard but never ever bare faced, he basically lost a game and had to shave it, and even though I thought that helping him shave would have helped me cope with it more (I'm not very good with drastic changes) it really did not. I don't think by any means he looks bad, it's just so so so weird to me, I physically couldn't look at him in the face and he got offended, I explained to him that I really didn't think he was ugly I just... could not look at him in the face, I really just couldn't, it felt like my eyes were overwhelmed with the sight of him without any facial hair and it kinda felt like a whole different person. He thought I was exaggerating because I literally couldn't bring myself to look at him for more than a few seconds at a time and it was really a big effort. I guess my question would be why I feel so physically repulsed by the idea of looking at him even though I don't think he looks bad, I know it has something to do with difficulty getting used to change but it never happened to me before. I'm really sorry he got offended and I feel really bad about it, I wanted to know if it happens to anyone else or it's just me that's weird. |
