Um Vera is an ARM cpu.

Seems to be AI orientated
Not sure, how it would perform as a complete replacement of a typical x86 arch CPU in a normal workstation - besides being ARM will make it a bit harder to get software
Although there have been some steps in that direction on the Linux front, I haven't tried it myself.

So, basically it's designed for AI data centers...

Edit: just wanted to add some information. You're right, that the article seems to have got this wrong

Um Vera is an ARM cpu.

its worded weirdly but I took it to mean

"its encouraging arm adoption to of the x86 market, at the expense of x86 manufacturers amd and intel"

edit: can't read the article to confirm though it requires a subscription

Only for AI specific projects, where the CPU is only a feeder for the neuronal networks. Anything else needs more power than that.
