painting in neoclassical style of a family on a seashore. at bottom right is an old man "the grandfather" sleeping in a wrecked boat on shore wrapped in a blanket. to his right is a young woman pulling on the rags of her baby who is sitting on the ground. at center behind the woman is the young fisherman hanging up his nets.
