Johan August Strindberg (1849 – 1912) was a Swedish playwright, novelist, poet, essayist, and painter. A bold experimenter and iconoclast throughout his life, he explored a wide range of dramatic methods and purposes, from naturalistic tragedy, monodrama, and historical plays to his anticipations of expressionist and surrealist dramatic techniques. From his earliest work, Strindberg developed innovative forms of dramatic action, language, and visual composition.

Great writer and a very interesting person. Had a period where he was obsessed with alchemy and occultism too, which he wrote about in Inferno.

I love that birch is björk in Swedish, but I couldn't tell you why this makes me so happy.

That might be, yeah, though I have no idea what birch is in Icelandic ... Birki? That is so cute. And björk means tree?
