This is maybe stupid question, but my curiosity keep pushing me to ask. I’m interested in becoming a full time indie Android developer and building useful apps that are free, open source, and privacy friendly. I like the idea of creating alternative that people can use without worrying about tracking or aggressive monetization. But at the same time, I also need to be realistic about money. I don’t want to end up financially trapped just because the apps are free. Is it realistic to make this sustainable through donation, sponsor, optional paid version, ethical paid feature, or services around the apps? I’d love to hear honest advice or real world experience from people who have tried something similar. |
