Recently I had COVID and as I powered through my headaches, I started to realize I was feeling a familiar smell - one that I had associated with being high on psychedelics.

As I thought about it, I realized more and more that it was the exact same smell, one that was deep in my trip memories. It isn't an unpleasant smell, just unique.
And then I started thinking that COVID could be affecting similar parts of the brain as psychedelics and triggering a similar phantosmia (smell hallucinations).

I am wondering if this is something anyone else has noticed or was it just my own brain? Any comments?
