There are lots and lots of shows with a cast of characters that remain the same age throughout. I get its value in visual consistency and predictable character dynamics, but whenever I see the Simpsons or Rick and Morty for example, I can't help but feel that aging the characters every season or two would be so cool, as the overall story could shift a bit and give new story opportunities.

Only shows that did something similar I can think of are Steven Universe Future and Naruto Shippuden, but those are both technically separate shows and even then, it is just one time jump.

Live action equivalents, like long running sitcoms, have actors that age naturally, so the scripts have to evolve with them.
