To preface this my pc is an intel i5-4690k 16gb of ram ssd drives for everything no m2 drive unfortunately and a GeForce 1660Ti.

Windows started taking some hits lately (looking at d4 after the previous expansion even) and some of the games that so actually enjoy playing.

I tried going with bazzite at first install was smooth when I tried running some stuff upgrading etc suddenly blank screen out of nowhere while booting not even getting to a grub menu to even try nomodeset. Reinstalled twice nothing.

Went back to windows 10. Tried mint right on boot from usb blank desktop couldn’t even click or start the installation when I tried manualling it the whole system would just hang.

Tried fedora only issue I had was starting with nomodeset in order to install my gpu and for the first time ever I actually run things on my pc and I barely hear the gpu fans! Whereas in windows after getting used to the fans going at speed you could only tell how loud it was after you shut the pc down and the room would go silent.

I am still testing the waters and I do want to test some of my favourite games I haven’t managed to run appropriately on windows (cyberpunk, maybe some d4, oblivion remastered).

I am just so glad to finally switch to Linux. I still keep my windows on a different drive and I need to prepare the grub to identify them because there are a few games that my fiancé still plays from windows (namely raid shadow legends) but other than that really REALLY glad to be here!

Would love any sort of tips because so far a bit ashamed to admit it but I did some of the tinkering through ChatGPT.
