Yeah, it's pretty nuts in retrospect. The bone is already a behemoth, and it cost so much that cold war era USA canceled a military superweapon project when Carter axed the B1A in 77. Then the Soviet Union saw all that and decided "we will make that, but with every info card specification 20% larger"
