I keep wondering why Fedora uses btrfs by default but still doesn't include ootb snapshots in the standard release. I get that the system's development is heavily leaning towards atomic distros (which always cracks me up, because in my native language "atomic distro" sounds like distributing nuclear weapons lol). But setting up btrfs-assistant, snapper, and grub-btrfs took me literally 5 minutes and it massively improves system safety. Surely the Fedora engineers could manage to implement this out of the box without hiding behind the excuse of "keeping things simple" or pointing to their other projects. I use KDE edition btw. |
