In case you missed it, here’s a link to my initial post. It’s been a little more than a week since I read a news article describing my own death, and I think I’m still not dead. I say I think, because who really knows? Maybe I’m trapped in Heaven. Or, Hell. I don’t really know any more. Things seem to have changed. I tried contacting KSDR, but couldn't actually find a listing for them anywhere. No website, socials. Nothing. I tried calling the police, but they hung up. And I don't really want to talk about this with the few friends and family I have. They already think I'm weird enough as it is. Regardless, after not going outside at all during the week, eating everything in my cupboards, and calling out sick to work each day, it seems I may have finally caught a break. As one does when trapped inside for 9 days I’ve been scrolling headlines. Primary elections, wars, and a Florida man who wrestled his dog out of an anaconda’s mouth. One headline in particular, however, caught my eye this morning. UPDATE: Southdale Man's Body Found Miles From Reported Death Scene. While this doesn’t seem like much, for me it was a slap back to reality, or… well again, not sure where. Anyway, here’s what the story said: “KSDR previously reported that a 44-year-old Southdale man had died outside his home in the Darlington Heights neighborhood. However, authorities now say the man's body was discovered early this morning in a roadside ditch approximately eight miles outside of town along Highway 9. Police have not commented on the discrepancy between the initial report and the updated information. Investigators have also declined to release details regarding the cause of death. Officials say the case remains under investigation, though foul play is suspected. According to authorities, the man was believed to be returning home from his evening shift at a nearby warehouse when the incident occurred. His guitar was recovered near the scene. Co-workers described the man as reliable and hard-working. "He mostly kept to himself, but everybody liked him," one co-worker said. Investigators also confirmed that the man had continued posting updates to the Reddit forum r/NoSleep after news reports initially stated that he had died outside his home. In his most recent post, the man expressed concern that details surrounding his death appeared to have changed. Authorities have not commented on the claims. Police have not announced any suspects or made any arrests. KSDR will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.” The news article seems to know what I was going to write before I wrote it. Unless someone from KSDR was in my living room this whole time, that would be impossible. So, if the first story was right, then staying inside worked. I cheated death, for now. Or maybe death just moved to a new location. Maybe what is happening isn’t predicting my future, but something else entirely. Either way, staying here forever isn’t the answer. I can go another week without work, I have plenty of sick time saved up. But I need to get out of the house. I’m out of food. And frankly, I'm going a bit crazy. Here's my plan. I'll walk a few blocks to a little market nearby and get enough supplies to last me a week. I also want to soak up some sun and breathe some fresh air, so I’ll grab a sandwich at the deli next door and eat it out on their patio. After that I’ll come straight home. The article said they found my guitar near the scene, so I’ll leave that here. The article also said there may be foul play, so I’ll bring a knife. I don’t have much, and it may not change anything, but better safe than sorry. Like I said, things have changed, and I don’t like it. Wish me luck. |
