Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse : for, by giving ridiculous reasons, ...

"Disagreeing with their lifestyle" implies that you admit that queer people have a lifestyle that is not "normal", for people to disagree with it. This is already a discriminating statement. You do not need to repeat the arguments of fascists to be able to counter them. "No discrimination" on its own is enough to ban any -phobic comment, you don't need to preemptively do anything more. That's t...

Normality is subjective. Normativity is often used as an excuse for hatred. I do not like to use the word normal. As for points two and three, okay. Fair enough. You make a valid point about who it could attract. I meant no malintent. It was simply a miscommunication. What do you suggest I change it to? |

I would not mind a space that recognizes the abandonment of conservative principles by the republican party and tried to get back to principles that have been chipped away at since nixon. If it considers conservatism the deficits don't matter voodoo economics and stuff right up to maga. whelp then I will just block it. |

The GOP has not been conservative for a long time. |

No. Nobody is stuck in the traditions they were born into. And mixed couples likely have different traditions and that is fine. The child would have something called culturalgenesis. The combination of both the ways of their parents into a different way. In group homes or foster care, it is up to you to choose what you want to do. And of course we should have the freedom to modify our tradition...
hm. so im hearing that you're in favor of freedom to engage with, change, or not engage with traditions. This is the same position as is held by people who call themselves liberals and especially leftists of various types. you are religious, but so are people all across the political spectrum, so that doesn't require conservatism on its own. you also don't seem to push your religion on anyone else. you are clearly worried about the planet and ecology but don't tie it to a specific ethnic group, like when the right takes it up as an excuse to exclude others (e.g. Malthusian perspectives, ecofascism). an earnestly ecological outlook I've seen mostly in the center and on the left. I think your positions make you more of a leftist. maybe you've been shown the left or individual leftists in a bad light... that happens a lot in media. or maybe you live in a former Soviet bloc country, which makes the left in general and "socialism" especially look bad (though I'd argue the ussr wasn't doing socialism). if you're curious at all, I'd be glad to give you some materials on leftist positions as they actually are and not as they are portrayed by the right and the center. |

The institutional traditions of being a shepherd of this world instead of destroying His creation and uphold justice. That and religion. Regardless, we all live here and if we mess up this world with pollutants, destroy ecosystems, or smash justice as if it means nothing at all... I shudder to think what would happen. We already have caused unfathomable damage by deforestation, throwing mercury...
Not sure you can say religion is a conservative value in itself. Some forms of religion lend themselves to conservatism, because of the values they espouse. But you'd have to look at those particular values to find the conservatism, not just a blanket "religion". I suspect you have a particular form of religion in mind. Are Wiccans conservative? Buddhists? Satanists? As for the rest, it's environmentalism, not conservatism. You'll find fewer conservatives who want to conserve ecosystems than non-conservatives. Conservatism doesn't mean conserving stuff in general, and in fact "keep stuff" would be either meaningless or foolish as a philosophy. Conservatism's distinctive feature is that it wants to conserve entrenched privilege, wealth, and power structures. And where those are harmful, oppressive, or exploitative, it wants to conserve the harm, the oppression, and the exploitation. Conservatism towards power implies a destructive attitude to many other things. |
