I still can't belive this actually happened to me today. Not to sound dramatic, but I wanted to drive my car off a cliff when I realised my error. So I work as an accountant, and today I created and sent an invoice to a supplier of ours, while substidising for my coworker who is currently on vacation - so far so good, shouldn't be an issue right? WRONG! My coworker usually handles business with different big corporations, and I am usually responsible for handling smaller costumers and suppliers. Therefor I wasn't really familiar with the kind of business they do, and didn't realise that they were a direct rivalery company at first. So my manager sent me their e-mail conersation, including some internal an external communication, with little to no further information other than "please invoice, ty" (Typical management behaviour lmao). I did so, and by mistake sent the invoice to the supplier INCLUDING THE E-MAIL CONVO. Didn't realise my mistake until my manager told me that some emails down, there was information about our own internal pricing that was actually confidential. I immediatly panicked and ask if I should try to call back the email, but he told me it would prob. seem more suspicious if we did, and it usually doesn't work when it comes to Mails outside the organisation anyways. So all I can do now is hope and pray that nobody bothers to scroll down far enough to notice, and that's a gamble. To make matters worse: not only was the head of procurement of the entire corporation cced, but also the CEO. So yeah, fml I guess. TL;DR : Accidentally shared an E-Mail conversation, stating confidential information to our rival company |
