Unironically I will always remember Alec in Tinker Tailor before Star Wars. |

The worst part of this is that Wookiepedia doesn't exist anymore. Fandom.com fucking ate it. |

Yes, but let's be honest... If not for Star Wars his legacy would much more prominently feature brown face that has not aged nearly as well.

Yeah, but he negotiated a percentage of the box office when nobody else believed in it. |

I haven't seen Guinness as Smiley, but I recently watched The Spy Who Came in from the Cold with Richard Burton as Leames (and apparently a guy called Rupert Davies as Smiley), and holy moly was it boring. Dreadful. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (with Oldman) was slow af, but I at least found it watchable. |

You gotta have a legitimate British theater actor in your space wizard movie to sprinkle in a touch of authenticity. |

Now that is upsetting. I remember it being such a good resource as a star wars obsessed early teen |

I thought the BBC tinker tailor and Smiley's People was really good, understated performances. But I'd read the books a few times so caught a lot of the cues. |
