Very popular in its day, Romantic Tales is a collection of passionate, thrilling and macabre gothic stories and poems by well-regarded and controversial author Matthew Lewis, creator of the scandalous supernatural gothic novel The Monk. From the haunting medieval gothic of Mistrust; or, Blanche and Osbright to the cruel eco-terror of The Anaconda and from the sweeping fairy tale tinged with dark romanticism The Four Facardins to the exotic gothic fantasy Amorassan; or the Spirit of the Frozen Ocean, this collection of tales will be sure to keep you enthralled for hours! - Summary by Ben Tucker
