I just moved into my apartment yesterday. Today I got home with some take out and when I went through the gate someone who lives next door saw me and assumed I was a doordasher and asked if I needed help finding the apartment. Instead of being a normal human being and explaining that I live here, I just told him I'm looking for apartment 8.

He says no problem and leads me to the apartment where I can't just walk in since he thinks I'm making a delivery, so I put the food down and start pretending to take a picture. Once he was out of sight I unlocked the door and walked in. Now I have to spend the next year avoiding this man who will think I'm incredibly weird for pretending to be a doordasher, which all fairness I have no explanation for why I did that.

TL;DR: I'm too awkward to give a simple explanation that I live where I live and instead pretend to make a delivery
