TIFU by mowing with the same lawnmower blade for 10 years that was progressively getting duller over time

I live in the southern US in the suburbs and I’ve been increasingly frustrated with my mower to the point that I dread mowing each week. I’ve even been considering paying someone $220/month to mow my yard.

Anyways I had a brainwave and got out the angle grinder and sharpened the blade. When I mowed today I was able to go 2 notches lower than I would normally have with about 25% of the frustration I would normally have!

Now the plan is to go ahead and by a new blade that’s super sharp from the factory so hopefully it’s even better.

Tl;dr

Realized my lower blade hadn’t been sharpened in the 10+ years I’ve had the mower and could have saved my self so much frustration!
