Image depicts a John Deere lawn tractor with a Milwaukee Battery fan on the hood

This worked surprisingly well, the fan is held in place by hopes and prayers, and my hand when moving up or down hill

Sic. Is it powered by its own battery or attached to the tractor's battery?

It's own, the fan is from the M18 line of tools, that fan is s godsend when summer camping.

Can get the same effect if you just drive the mower faster. Much faster.

Get some water misting in front of it and it’d be heaven!

I've heard of hardware hacking for John Deere tractors, but I like this one the most haha

I've done this with another brand of 18v battery fan. But I used a couple of bungee cords to strap it down to the hood, stays on through bumps and hills.

The only drawback is when you pilot the mower through a cloud of dust and it blows in your face

I'll have a look for the best mounting locations, this sounds like a pretty good idea.
