Play School is so great! Parents love it, because you can put the kid down in front of the show and trust they will entertain the young'un, while not being trash TV. We had a bunch of DVDs, because iView didn't have episodes on-demand when the oldest was born. And to be frank, those were favourites.

Don't tell Aunty, but they could axe the show and just run the past decade of episodes again as re-runs for the next ten years. The kids won't know. Hell, 99% of the parents won't know, hardly any of us look at the show for that long.

Ours started with the British formula. But Australian humour soon slipped in and the two shows diverged. Ours was/is loads more fun than the British formula.

“There was a time when I was a house for instance,” Collings said.
As she stood still with her hands shaped like a roof above her head, Hamblin walked around her inspecting the property.
“Fine house,” Hamblin said on camera, before walking behind Collings, staring at her backside and saying, “Hmmm, and a good back entrance as well”.

John was fabulously gay, so he got away with the most outrageous shit with the women presenters. It was hilarious for the parents.

Maybe being able to make children's entertainment without a profit motive helps. IDK though, haven't read the actual article
