In July 1993, just months after the USSR collapsed, a document titled Defense Electronics: DOD, Intel Agencies Look at Russian Mind Control Technology Claims hit the desks of US intelligence. The FBI and CIA were having closed door meetings in Northern Virginia with a Russian scientist named Dr. Igor Smirnov.

The meetings were about testing a computerized acoustic device capable of planting thoughts directly into a subject's subconscious without them realizing where the thoughts came from. They were looking to deploy it during high stakes standoffs like the Waco siege that was happening around that time.

Dr. Igor Smirnov wasn't just a random post soviet scientist. His real name was Igor Abakumov. He was the son of Viktor Abakumov, the head of SMERSH and Minister of state security under Stalin. He was the man who engineered the Soviet terror machine and orchestrated mass deportations of religious minorities in 1951. While the father used gulags to crush dissent, the son spent decades in a Moscow lab developing what he called Psychoecology and Psychocorrection.

Smirnov described his tech as a stone axe for brain surgery. His method used specific subliminal keywords or soundscapes, which sounded like white noise or the squealing of pigs, baked into music or audio transmissions. The tech bypassed critical conscious analysis and went straight to the subconscious, forcing the brain to interpret the message as its own internal dialogue.

The official narrative states that the FBI backed away from Smirnov after he admitted that if the software glitched, the targets could end up violently turning on each other. But the paperwork tells a different story.

I recently read a book that connects this exact technology and Smirnov's methods to modern school shootings. In his writing, Smirnov focused heavily on social outcasts and unstable individuals. He didn't see them as people to cure, but as brains to be hacked, arguing that you could systematically pinpoint their weaknesses and manipulate their behavior.

When you look at how acoustic manipulation was used during the Waco siege, where the FBI literally blasted the sounds of screaming rabbits and slaughterhouses at the compound for days or how modern algorithmic radicalization targets unstable people online today, it looks like the tech didn't disappear. If you look at the psychological profiles of school shooters who claim they heard voices or felt external directives, the connection to these old Soviet algorithms is hard to ignore.

You can actually find videos on ytb of Smirnov and his wife explaining how this psychocorrection technology works and demonstrating it.

If the FBI and a private US corporation bought the source code to this tech thirty years ago, where do you think it is being used today?

I'll leave the links in the comments if you guys want to check out the sources for yourselves.
