I've hiked up mount Pacaya twice. Guatemalas mountains and volcanoes are gorgeous.

I'm right there with you. i haven't hiked up any famous ones, but i loved seeing all the dormant and active volcanoes in Guatemala. i was near atitlan for a week and loved the volcanoes around the lake.

she took the picture from the caimans, and it's a volcano I'm unfamiliar with, but will check.

"Yepocapa". Is Fuego there?

Yep!(ocapa) sure seems to be!

map showing Yepocapa fairly close to Volcán de Fuego

from what I've heard Fuego is the erupting volcano in Guatemala. there may be another but all the dramatic pictures I've seen (and there were quite a few I saw taken by travellers who were in El Salvador after Guatemala) were of Fuego.

makes sense that its from a little further away than Acatenango though, I was second guessing that considering maybe the low light was hiding the ridge between the two

neat pic! thanks for sharing :)

eta: wait it was taken from the caimans? holy crap that's more than a little further away! crazy it came out so good wow

yea, pretty crazy, i'm assuming there has to be some kind of upscaling something involved because it does look amazing.

Oh, and it was supposedly taken on an iPhone. It won first prize for some iPhone picture contest.

I was near Acatenango more, but Fuego was the one everybody talked about

Thanks for the map, that's awesome.
