Not sure if this is the right subreddit to ask, but has anyone else had a similar experience? Firefox's GPU acceleration, stability, and overall resource usage seem noticeably better than any Chromium-based browser I've used. In daytoday browsing, the speed feels about the same as Brave or Edge, but scrolling is much smoother, and I also prefer Firefox's devTools. I noticed this on both Windows and Linux. **The only thing that confuses me is benchmarks. Whenever I run browser benchmarks (like Speedometer), Chromium-based browsers consistently score higher than Firefox. Is this mainly because Chromium's V8 JavaScript engine is more optimized than Firefox's SpiderMonkey? maybe those benchmarks measuring JavaScript performance more than overall browser responsiveness and rendering smoothness?** would love to hear about this as I am kinda noob with development but a experienced fedora linux user. |
