News outlets like CBC and Associated Press should do their due diligence and actually investigate and report. A “statement” isn’t proof of anything. The headline should read
“Representative for Sen Mitch McConnell issues statement claiming he was hospitalized after a fall”. Don’t use words like “McConnell says” unless one of your reporters actually saw the words coming from his mouth.
