I’ve been eating almond butter for the past ten years, because I’m allergic to peanut butter. For the past ten years, one of my biggest pet peeves was a new jar of almond butter. How the oil separates, how messy it is to try and mix it together, the inevitable hard clumps of almond butter. I don’t know if peanut butter is as bad with this. I assume, since it’s more popular, it sits for less time on the shelf or something. Maybe it has more preservatives, I don’t know. I’m able bodied, and besides the mess it’s also quite difficult to get in there and separate the brick. I have no idea how someone with any kind of dexterity/motor control disability has a hope in hell of mixing that. Anyway, a month ago my mom picked up the only almond butter she could find, which was $18 and terrible. It was grainy and tough and not easily spreadable. So I put it in my food processor and blended the shit out of it, and it fixed everything 100%. It was so smooth. I don’t mind chunky almond butter, but fuck an $18 grainy almond butter But then I finished it and had to get a new jar yesterday of the stuff I typically buy. I was dreading the mixing process, but then I thought, why not just do that again? So I emptied the jar into the food processor, blended for maybe 60 seconds, and it was perfect. It all went back in the jar easily with a small spatula. The jar isn’t oily and there was no mess. The small amount of excess I just licked off the spatula If you have a food processor and also have difficulty with nut butters, I highly recommend |
