My dad was 29 at the time and a truck driver, he was also a veteran. Prior to his encounter he never believed in UFOs/aliens as a phenomenon.

This is the sighting as he told it to me.

My dad was driving through Texas with my older brother who was five at the time. He was driving his truck in the early morning around 2 or 3 am, when another truck driver came over the cb saying something to the effect of "there's e.t. up ahead". He said that when it came into view he could see something floating up over the highway, lights strobing around it, my brother said "look it's a spaceship" my dad always pointed out the casual way my brother responded because he was little and had also recently seen star wars.

As they approached my dad said some vehicles had pulled over to look at it, he said there were large windows with a bright white light shining out of them and he said there were shadows or silhouettes moving at the base of the windows, he said this ship was the size of a football field, floating about three tree lengths above the highway. When he drove under it he had started to panic a bit because he had his son with him.

He said that something strange happened to him though, one minute he felt panicked and then he felt indifferent about it as he came out the other side, he noted that after reflecting on it later that he thought it was odd that he and my brother never really talked about it, he noticed a demeanor shift in retrospect that he thought was odd behavior for what he went through.

He watched the ship float in place in his mirror until it was out of sight but it never moved the entire time he saw it.

I believe his encounter was legitimate, he was ashamed to talk about it for decades, and he had no reason to lie or fabricate it, if anything it caused him some difficulty trying to reconcile what he experienced with his faith, trying to figure out how that experience would fit in his world view.

He had some weird memories that he wasn't sure if they were real or not so he didn't like talking about them.

He did note that his metal fillings in his teeth crumbled a few days later and he had to have them replaced but he just thought that was strange and didn't know if it was connected to driving under the UFO.

My dad and brother did talk about it together about a decade ago, and my brother said it's hard for him to talk about it because he's remembering from a five year olds perspective.
However their accounts diverge a bit, my brother said he thought he remembered them driving into the UFO and seeing a bright light instead of a seamless drive underneath.
