For anyone in the same boat, you probably know by now that most modern banking and government apps require some form of google play services to work. However, after looking into microg a bit, I didn't like some of the permissions it asked for, nor the fact that it'd be a constantly running background program killing my battery. After some research, I figured out the following flow to solve this:
There you have it! Now, whenever you press that shortcut, you have the option to toggle your freezer on or off. In the on state, microg will pause and stop contacting google servers, and your banking app or what have you should disappear from your app drawer. When you toggle off, however, microg services will resume and you can use your app as you please. I used to use Island to accomplish this, but file sharing was a nightmare. If someone sees an issue with how I'm going about this, please tell me! I'm somewhat new to this and am just playing with apps until something works. |
