It might not have killed them, but there is a very real danger of permanent hearing loss if you get too close to those loud ass motherfucking bugs. |

WTF? Why did the article have to name, shame, and embarrass the poor cashier? That's just asshole behavior on the newspaper staff's part. |

Everything I ever heard about being a cashier or handling money in any way, if someone asks you to give it to them you give it to them. If you go into your bank and ask for everything in the register they will likely give it to you. They are insured for that money and it's much less than you are imagining. Now later you will likely be arrested. You will likely end up in jail. Based on silent alarms and video cameras. They typically are instructed to just give it over. There was a story years ago of a homeless mam walking into a bank, requesting 1 dollar and just waiting for the cops so he could go to jail and get a bed and 3 meals a day. He had no gun or knife or weapon of any kind. Just a piece of paper that said "give me $1". |

Where's her address? Newspapers used to give that out too! And sometimes comment on a woman's looks! |

Can confirm, was a cashier at a ticket office, they told us exactly this. The manager, a singularly blunt person, explained it like this: "If you get yourself shot trying to protect the money in the till, you are an asshole and I will fire your corpse. You are not trained in security. It's not your job to protect the money in the till. You are worth more. When we move enough money to be worth defending, we hire someone to do it, because this is a theater, not a ninja school." He then looked somewhat wistful. |

Was curious of how old the article was (25$ wasn't always a small amount) and found this link of it. Story is from 1987 https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1987-06-06-mn-5120-story.html |

That is clearly something someone who secretly runs a ninja school disguised as a theatre would say |

Where I used to live in Tennessee there's a special paper called Busted. Anyone gets arrested, they get into busted, with their full name, photo, and address posted. I don't know if it's still a thing or not |

Holy shit, I thought you were joking but they reach up to 120 decibels. That's crazy. Robbers need goddamn PPE hearing protection to hold one cicada. |

That's insane. Wouldn't they be liable for harassment and vandalism, especially if the people were found not guilty? |

Love how the Web version doesn't highlight her name in boldface like the printed version did. Real sweethearts, the newspaper staff were. |

There's some law that allows them to do so, but I don't really remember what it was. It's pretty fucked |
