I'm beginning to think so many successful writers are terrible people because it must help them write a wider range and depth of characters. Lovecraft was so paranoid/hateful about anyone different than him, Charles Dickens hated his wife and kids, and now we have Rowling.

rowling just got lucky with the right kinda story at the right time getting popular in the right kinda country that could throw immense wealth at it. There're hundreds of other realistic fiction YA novels that are certainly better than HP and way less problematic, but unfortunately the one written by a hater on a crusade soaks up a majority of the attention.
