This is a small release that took a huge amount of work. For those who don't know the v1 release of Lemmy has been in beta for a while now. The v1 release of Lemmy ships with Lemmy API v4 with backwards compatibility with Lemmy API v3. Lemmy API is the shared language of how clients (Summit) and server talk to one another. Lemmy releases are loosely tied to API versions. So for instance, Lemmy v0.19 (which is the version most servers use) only supports Lemmy API v3. Currently Summit only supports v3 of the Lemmy API. This release adds support for API v4. This is mostly a future proofing measure since Lemmy v1 will still support API v3. Since Lemmy v1 isn't released yet it's likely there are still bugs in the API v4 support implementation as there were many massive changes. Due to this API v4 is disabled by default. Once Lemmy v1 releases and I can verify the app is stable with API v4 it will be turned on by default. So basically this update doesn't actually add anything, yet. Full changelog
Update Changes released in v1.83.2. (v1.83.1 was skipped due to build issues).

This update seems to have broken piefed support? Client error. Code: 404. Message: Ooops, something is broken! The page your browser tried to load could not be found. .
I can take a look later tonight. Is there a specific action that causes this error? |

The main feed did. Web did work that made me go here, but it seems to have fixed itself? |

Loving the app after trying out a few. Is there a way to search comments? Seeing posts, communities, users, and urls but couldn't find comments section for search results. |

Ah, thanks for bringing this up. I think back when PieFed first added their API, they didn't support searching Comments. However PieFed supports it now. I can add it in the next release. |

not sure if I'm the only one but replies take a long time to load, the spinning blue/white ball thing can go on and on. Sometimes so long I don't bother and leave the posts comments unread. I compared ot to Boost which is super quick comparatively and I've never notices it there. Its always done this. I'm using a Moto Razr 50u, Android 16 |

Going to address some comment loading issues in the next release. Hopefully it fixes some of these issues. |

Thank you, Devs! Summit has become my go to Lemmy app, only really wanting for one thing - can we get a double tap to zoom on any focused images in app please? |

This is already in the app. Is double tap not working for your? |

Thanks for response! Yeah, I'm on a Pixel 9 pro xl, running android 16. When I get to a photo in focus, I see onscreen controls for image overlaid, but double tapping on the image just makes those controls toggle on/off and image stays in place. I have to pinch to zoom only.

Actually, I think I found the conflict! In settings>Misc, you have a "single tap to close" toggle (which is great and I personally prefer). I had that enabled and a double tap was non responsive. If I then change that option back to default state, I can then double tap successfully to zoom, but obviously the single tap to close option no longer functions... So I assume something about allowing for recognition of both single and double tap gestures distinctly, in that state?

Ohhh. Thanks for finding the cause. I can take a look tonight to see if I can support both. |

I looked into the issue and I now remember what happened. The default image viewer has single tap to toggle the UI visibility and double tap for zoom. When single tap to exit is enabled, the toggle UI visibility gets assigned to double tap instead which disables double tap for zoom. This was a decision made on purpose to re-home the toggle UI visibility gesture as that feature is deemed more important. |

Ultimately at your discretion of course, my assumption would be that directly interacting with the image though (to zoom in this case, especially for things like infographics and long comics with small text, which are seen often in feeds) is the much more frequent use case compared to toggling tool UI on/off? Feel like I've taken the functionality for granted in many other apps I've tried (maybe lemmy version of "sync" as an example?). Have you considered tool UI toggle maybe assigned to a long press on screen or an upward swipe perhaps? Understand you are balancing with many needs though, so again, no expectation on my part. |

Yeah I can switch it to long press but honestly it all feels very arbitrary. In my opinion, the default behavior is the most natural as u can swipe the image in any direction to close the image viewer, single tap to show/hide UI and pinch to zoom/double tap to zoom/double tap and drag to zoom. |

I think I didn't realize that you could swipe on image to close in default option? That is a little retraining for me, but seems very usable in the end. Thanks. |

All good. I'm going to implement what sync has in the next release as well just to make it feel more at home for sync users. |
