In this short story, a lone observer works inside a tiny station positioned far beyond the edge of the galaxy. Previous workers have gone insane or died in unexplained ways. Space isn't a good place for a man to be alone... Tom Godwin is one of my favorite authors. This isn't his best work, by far. and it's so short, that it's a bit trivial. But still a fun quick little read. This story came from the December 1957 issue of Amazing Stories.
