Protein is all the hype so marketing on various packaged foods is trying to convince you to buy their product. Use a simple rule of 10 to see if it's truly a 'good source of protein' or 'high protein'. If you multiply the number of grams of protein by 10 and it is higher than the number of calories, it can be a reasonably good source of protein. For example, you look at a snack bar that is 100 calories. It says 'high protein' and has 6g per serving. 6 x 10 = 60. That's less than 100 so not as good of a source. Find one that has 10g or more. Easy math to support your decisions. Not advising what or how much you should have but just a way to sift through marketing nonsense. |
