• US oil reserves are so low that the caves used to store the oil are physically being damaged, this can't continue

• US allies have been shooed away from developing substantial strategic reserves of oil, they have not been allowed to develop refinement capacity (the nations doing that are Vietnam and China, which can actually redirect their exports to their population), meaning that talk of replenishing US reserves without opening the strait is as fanciful as moving around patriot missiles to "replenish interceptor supply"

• if the japanese yen collapses, they dump US treasuries (if anyone starts dumping US treasuries it can trigger a bank run essentially)

• if the UK continues on its present trajectory it will need to dump treasuries

• if the Saudis get more angry (they're reiterating Iranian statements they would ordinarily deny so we are on course for this) they will dump US treasuries. They've been talking about getting out of the dollar lock for years but they've never actually had any reason to
