I've been going back and reading these reports from Boris Zhilyaev, Vladimir Petukhov, and Sergey Pokhvala. They've published several papers outlining their detection and documentation of black-body (does not reflect light/absorbs all light) objects in the sky which move at very fast speeds. They previously analyzed the Ukrainian war zone uap footage from Kyiv as well as Colotto's footage of several objects near the surface of the moon from 2020.

This recent article of theirs (2025), still in preprint (not peer-reviewed), claims in no uncertain terms that the moon is a base for kilometer-wide ufos of several types; some are anchored to the moon in orbit, some blink in synchronized fashion, and some are toroidal (donut-shaped). But all are extremly large, extremely fast, and extremely hard to detect.

What is the general consensus on these folks and their findings? Their earlier documents seemed to outline a decent methodology and interesting results from their observations. This recent document is startling and seems a departure from their earlier documents which did not attempt to explain the phenomena.

Edit: While I initially had no issue with the claims of a "new" method to detect the objects, using this color grading system of theirs for everything from detection of the objects to estimating the size of the objects does leave it open to scrutiny. While they do acknowledge that insects are a factor to consider in the images, they seem to assume that these objects they're detecting are always black-body objects. The size estimates are given with a range between two different sizes (again based on the reflectivity/color of object vs background) but both options could be wrong for all I know.

The extraordinary claims of a moon base should ideally be confirmed or denied by anyone else's observations if the results are indeed reproducible. I'd also wonder about the physical effects of kilometers-wide objects moving at mach 2 and why that has not yet been observed.
