Sound Transit recently revealed light rail won't reach Ballard until "around 2060" without further intervention. Seattle Subway lays out a path to greatly accelerate this delivery date, which they call “wildly unacceptable.”

Even in Sound Transit’s perfect world, this is seven years later than voters were promised. Simply, 2042 still isn’t good enough. Not only that, but the broad efforts Sound Transit describes are not actionable in their current vague form. The public deserves to understand the detailed steps the agency is going to take and how each one is expected to impact construction timelines. The goal must be a Ballard station at Market Street opening by 2035, as voters approved.
