I finished reading Debt: The First 5,000 Years, by David Graeber. I liked it, but I really need to re-read it to properly understand it. I feel like I consumed a lot of information in too short a time, and much of it has sadly slipped my mind already, though I do believe, or at least hope, that what I got out of it is good enough for a first read of a rather long, dense book.

There are a lot of citations, as well, which I will likely never read. Maybe a few of them, sometimes, the ones most fervently recommended, but otherwise I fear I will take Dr. Graeber's words for it.

I kept thinking of bolo'bolo as I was reading Debt. Or, well mostly as I was nearing the end of the book, but the idea clicked with me from the start when the Native American pooled resources place (I forget the name) was mentioned. I like that.

I have much to think about, and I probably will over the coming days. I think it's good to imagine a world, or a society, maybe, wherein we can trust each other, or build trust with each other; coming from a very rural place as I do, I think a lot of these principles are alive and well, in some places. I do think it good for them to be expanded.

I wore shorts.

Now, what to read next... I'm strongly considering Hyouka, but I might pick something else. We shall see.
