Being a jerk is a choice, not a diagnosis. Diagnosing the jerk from a single story about his behavior insults actual autistic people and gives someone a free pass for fuckery. Being an inconsiderate dumbass is bad character, not an autistic trait.

It is particularly infuriating because most of the time, "maybe they're autistic" is coming from someone who is autistic.
