This is an automated archive made by the Lemmit Bot.The original was posted on /r/autism by /u/ApartmentComplex6179 on 2026-08-10 21:44:35+00:00. I made a post like this in r/askdocs, and someone recommended I post it here and on r/OCD. I’m not sure if I tagged it right, so please let me know if this should be tagged as something else! Up until like yesterday I thought I was the only one who had this issue, and I wanted to see if there was anyone here who's gone through something similar. Around 6th grade, I convinced myself that if I were to blink, something tragic would happen. I'm 16 now and haven't been blinking since unless I force myself to. I have no blink to threat reflex, no eventual "It'll hurt so much that I blink" and I will go days at a time without blinking at all. I still close my eyes to sleep and stuff, but it takes a while. I use artificial tears on the daily (though probably not as much as I should be, I'm still working on that). Everything I look up about this is just memes, creepypastas, the doctor who episode, etc.. Which isn't very helpful. When I posted this to r/askdocs, I was given a bunch of advice that's actually been more useful than anything I've been told about it in years. Instead of pure damage control, I'm now starting to take steps towards fixing it. So I'm wondering if anyone here has gone through something similar, or maybe has any tips on how they got / get through it in day to day life! |
