I’m so tired of them painting autistic people like we’re incapable morons that ruin families and everyone around us, like it’s a horrible disease that should be eliminated at all costs, like we can’t live a worthy life.

It just breeds even more stigma, makes autistic people even more afraid and ashamed to voice their needs, to tell someone that they’re autistic, to just be.

It strengthens the self hatred many autistic people already suffer from, it deepens the shame many of us have, it makes us seem less than human.

I’m tired of it.
