We got a monitoring software hat flags you if there’s no keyboard or mouse activity for a certain amount of time.

Problem is a big part of our job requires meetings, sometimes back to back, so pretty much everyone started getting flagged for being “idle” while literally doing their job.

People would be sitting in calls listening, talking through stuff, whatever, and the system would just see no mouse movement and mark it as inactivity.

Now they’re apparently trying to figure out how to exclude meeting time from the metric.

So we bought software to measure productivity and one of the first things it did was classify a huge chunk of our actual work as doing nothing.
