Wonder if anyone else has a horror story about working for a church? Worked for 10 years as a worship minister. 2 years before I left the senior pastor told me he had a problem with me. Would not tell me what, but every day was a toxic drain. I asked him many times to talk but he would never tell me. Finally one day after asking again I just told him I didn’t care anymore and that he didn’t follow his own sermons, and he could go to hell as far as I was concerned. Two weeks later I got called before the leadership and was told there were allegations against me by his wife of a sexual nature. I had never even been alone with his wife or in my office with a closed door with anyone. My wife even came and told the leadership the pastor and his wife were making up stuff because they didn’t like us for some unknown reason. Two weeks later I was asked to resign. No explanation. No witness. No apology. No care for my family’s situation. Two week’s severance. Fast forward 10 years. I have a great job at a bank. 8-5 M-F with bank holidays, good benefits, and a great atmosphere. I have left church entirely and am no longer a believer. If you think you’ve seen bad behavior at a business, you should work for a church. I ought to start a sub for church antiwork. |
