Got the legs matched to the body and the holes drilled for the toothpicks, it's almost ready for gluing

Just gotta fix this

Once I get that wonky leg fixed and a final sanding with like 220 on everything, it'll be time to glue

It's been great following along with your project. Good luck tweaking the leg.

This is bigger than I thought it was. In the first pictures, it looked like it was 4" tall.

This would make quick work of leveling those fins:

It has become somewhat more complicated than i initially envisioned

But all my projects do, so, 🤷

This has a very 1950's "that's what a rocket should look like" vibes-based profile (I mean no disrespect by this!), I love it

Are those regular food toothpicks or do you need meatier woodworking toothpicks? Do you just tap em in snug or what?

No need to worry, the legs will act like a flared base.

I look forward to the daily updates. I don’t know what I will do when it’s finished.

I see you have your Axe ready, if it all goes horribly wrong.

As is proper. I split a ton of wood as a kid and I like axes

They're just regular toothpicks from Walmart i think. They aren't intended to give any additional strength, just keep the joint tight while the glue dries. With the pilot hole properly sized, they actually keep things surprisingly tight

Based on a few test holes, I'm thinking I'll be able to just push them in by hand, I'm not sure they're strong enough to survive much more than the lightest tapping
