Rectangles and squares feel uniquely human. Not many other things in nature make these shapes

That's actually a really neat story. I question the authenticity, but it's neat.

It could be worse. We could have circular screens instead of rectangles, right now.

Every rectangle you see is two triangles. There are at least twice as many triangles you see than rectangles.

It's just the fact, that they are rather easy to make, since you just need to draw a line between two points and continue from there. Humans are attached to that. It helps to dis- and reassemble the world in a simple methodical way. The eye can more easily align itself with lines. Why? In fact lines are very unnatural and disturbing for us. That's how we got to make use of them. Imagine the street and houses around you were based on fractals. You'd possibly turn crazy and disoriented in no time, trying to make sense of everything. By the way, fuck cubism and Picasso in particular!

So much non-euclidian geometry is driving us all insane. Damn you curvature of the earth, damn you.
