brazil is not representative of latin america; it's undeniably the odd ball of the region because of the historical cultural antipathy that its language's origins still carries with it and the isolation -- geographical, cultural, historical -- that's helped to keep it relatively isolated from the influences that have impacted the rest of latin america.

... The Asian giant is deeply embedded in the region’s trade, commodity markets, infrastructure and financial relationships.

not for long and panama, peru, bolivia, and columbia kicking out chinese investment proves it.

Paradoxically, U.S. pressure may make alternatives to Washington more appealing to Latin America. Recent diplomatic maneuvers between the U.S., Brazil and Argentina show how this dynamic is unfolding and the risks it carries.

the oligarchies of latin american solely exist because of the united states and they will forever be loyal as a result. the only way that this will change is through the people pushing for the change themselves and that will only happen once their sugar daddy runs out of enough money to keep propping up these oligarchies.
