I'm not very familiar with WH40k. I recognize the whole machine spirit, Omnissiah will, etc., from Space Marine 2, and now I'm going through Rogue Trader. However, I do read the WH40K wiki from time to time, so I recognize things like "secret thing hidden on Mars", why Erebus is a dick, etc.

Ok, now that I've presented my layman's background - all these things that techpriests do are pure bullshit, right? All the incense, muttering prayers, etc. All the more 'ritualistic' activities don't actually do anything, and it's just a lie that techpriests happily indulge in to make everyone think that they are indispensable? I don't have hard proof, but I have this vibe that there is like a minority of things that techpriests do that are actually useful, and the rest is just flashy shows ?
